Never before had I been worried about my phone happening upon a virus. I had installed some antivirus apps on my Android phones in the past to test them out, but I was yet to put one on my Galaxy Nexus. But once a few friends with Android devices started coming to me with complaints of their phones acting up and asking for advice, I began to look into some protection for my Galaxy Nexus. I happened upon Lifehacker’s guide to the “Best and Worst AntiVirus Apps for Android” which helped to guide me in the right direction. Continue reading →

Google Launches Cube, a Google Maps HTML5 Game
Google is always coming up with fun, quirky things to experiment with on the web. They recently showed off an 8-bit version of Google Maps during April Fool’s Day (which they’re big on), and an even more recent experiment with their search engine turning into a battle between O’s and search results while searching for “Zerg Rush” (it’s a StarCraft tactic). Google had another experiment up their sleeves this weekend when it showed off a new browser-based game called Cube. Continue reading →
Google Announces Chrome Beta for Android
A new mobile web browser is coming to your Android smartphone today. Google announced its very own Google Chrome web browser is being ported over to all Android devices running that latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich. Yes, that means if your device manufacturer or carrier hasn’t pushed ICS to your phone yet, you’ll have to continue waiting. On top of that, Chrome Beta is only available is certain countries (including the U.S., phew!). Continue reading →
App Review: Google Voice for Android
A long-time favorite Android app of mine has been Google Voice. I jumped into Google Voice while it was still by invitation (be jealous), quite a while before my first smartphone. There are so many uses for Google Voice that I’ve lost count. I’ll go over my favorites that can be performed with the Android app in this article, but feel free to cover others in the comments if I’ve missed any. Also feel free to ask questions and I’ll do my best to answer them. Continue reading →

No one’s really sure when Google will be releasing Ice Cream Sandwich, the next update to the Android operating system, but users are getting very anxious. A forum poster over at the XDA Developers forums has ported the new Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard over to any Android device running Android 2.2 or higher. That’s not even the best part; it’s packed up in an .apk file ready for you to download and install without having to root your phone. Continue reading →
Goodbye Preview, Gmail Gets Its New Look
It’s beginning to seem like today is “Gmail Day”. First the Gmail iPhone app rumor and now an update to Gmail’s interface. Back in July, the Gmail team gave users a sneak peak of their latest interface update for Gmail. Appropriately named Preview, users were able to choose the new theme in their Gmail theme settings. Today, the team pushed out an update to Preview and users can enable it right now. The new look contains a handful of new features and looks great. Let’s take a look. Continue reading →
Native Gmail App Coming To iPhone
Back in 2007, the original iPhone was launched and people loved it. It was a new phone coming to a market that thought a “smartphone” meant a stylus and a cheap web browser. The iPhone was innovative and undoubtedly different, but that’s not to say it didn’t fall short on one thing: email. Specifically, Gmail users were left out in the cold without a native app unlike other email services like Yahoo!. But all that is about to change with a new native Gmail app for iPhone. Continue reading →

As with every new Android OS release comes a new set of wallpapers, and the set of wallpapers we’ll be seeing in ICS Continue reading →
