SBSettings: A Classic Jailbreak App for iDevices

When people ask me why I jailbreak I have many reasons, but what I show them is SBSettings. This one app brings so much into a single swipe it exemplifies the power of the jailbreak. It shows people the level of control you have when you free your device from Apple’s constraints. My brother recently jailbroke, and I wasn’t sure what his motivations were other than to see if he could do it. But after telling him about SBSettings I do not think he is going back. iSwipe Brings Swype to Jailbroken iOS Devices

People love cellphones. People also love texting on their cell phones. A few years ago, phone manufacturers began implementing T9 text input on their phones. T9 text input predicted which word the user was trying to type while the user was typing it. It was significantly faster compared to the multi-tap input where the user had to press a specific key multiple times to output one letter (depending on which letter). Well there’s good news now. We’ve come along way since T9 and multi-tap (at least I like to think so). So I present to you… Swype. Continue reading →

App Review: VLC Media Player For iOS

Once upon a time there was a little app that allowed you to watch many different video formats on your iDevice without having to convert them first. But alas, The Powers That Be removed it from the App Store and only the Rebel Alliance (AKA jailbreak community) has access to it now. Yes, I know I’m confusing two different movies, but let me continue. Continue reading →

How To: Add a 911 Shortcut To Your iPhone Home Screen

Consider yourself lucky if you haven’t been in a position where you had to call 911 as quickly as possible. In some emergency cases, a few seconds can mean life or death. So what if we could cut out just a few seconds it takes to pull out your cellphone, unlock it, open the phone app and dial three digits? Sure, the iPhone has Emergency Call on the lockscreen, but it’s easier to unlock your phone and tap an icon on your dock that automatically calls 911. We’ll be going over two ways to add contacts on your home screen – one for jailbreakers and one for non-jailbreakers. Let’s get started. Continue reading →
