Microsoft Announces Three Editions of Windows 8

Microsoft has published a blog post confirming the names of three editions of its latest operating system, Windows 8. The three editions include Windows 8 (duh) and Windows 8 Pro, which are built for x86 and x64 processors while the third edition, dubbed Windows RT, is built for PCs and tablets using an ARM processor. Nokia Issues $100 Refund To Lumia 900 Customers

Nokia and Microsoft have teamed up to release its Lumia 900 smartphone this past Sunday. There was much hype about the Windows Phone 7.5 powered phone, but shortly after it made its way into customers’ hands, some began to notice an issue with the phone’s cellular data connectivity not be able to reconnect to AT&T’s network. The issue is triggered by simply restarting the phone or putting it into airplane mode. Just 2 days after the official launch date, Nokia has recognized the glitch and is offering customers a $100 refund. Continue reading →

New Xbox 360 Dashboard (and More) Released Today

Starting December 6th and the coming months, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 will be getting extensive upgrades to its dashboard via live updates. Besides a new design that’s similar to the rest of the Windows product line, new content options will start to show up in these updates. OmniTouch Is Proof That The Future Is Near

If you’ve ever had your doubts that mankind would one day reach the technological culmination seen in the movie Minority Report, you’re about to realize we’re getting a lot closer to that point. Chris Harrison, a Ph.D. student from Carnegie Mellon and researcher at Microsoft, and his team have built a device that allows people to interact with applications and data in a similar manner to the famous scene in the movie. Shhh… Windows 8 Build 7850 Leaked

Shhh… don’t tell anyone, but there’s been reports of a Windows 8 build leaking onto the interwebs. Promise you won’t tell anyone, okay? We’re trying to keep this thing under wraps here, and we don’t want Microsoft finding out. Okay, you can stop reading this in a whispering voice. Microsoft Releases Windows 7 Service Pack 1

A year and a half after Windows 7 was released, Microsoft finally found enough updates to cram together into a service pack. Nearly 800 updates are included, so if you haven’t been updating lately consider yourself lucky to be fully updated with a click of a button. When you do decide to update, be sure to give yourself a half hour to be fully updated. If you’re running 32-bit Windows 7, this update will cost you 537 MB of hard drive space. If you’re running 64-bit, it’ll run you 903 MB. Continue reading →
