You may have heard your photo-buff friends talking about new changes that came last week to the popular iOS-only app called Instagram. The company recently hit 15 million users back in December (we imagine they’re close to 16 million now), and is reportedly expanding to the Android platform soon. But before the Android fans come aboard, the Instagram team pushed an update with significant changes to its iOS app including one new filter and UI changes. Continue reading →

YouTube Adds Snowfall Effect To Its Video Player
YouTube is adding some holiday cheer to their video player today. The company has enabled a snowflake icon right next to the annotation icon on the bottom bar of videos. Users can enable the snow effect to see snow fall from the top of the video, and watch it gather up on the bottom. Moving your mouse above the snowflakes pushes them around right before they hit the ground. Check out the video after the break. Continue reading →
Foursquare Redesigns Its Homepage For Greater Content Discovery
By revamping its website Tuesday, Foursquare has made it easier to discover more places, tips and deals right from your big-screen device(s). Before this redesign I never felt compelled to visit Foursquare.com. For what? Their mobile app has everything one needs… feature-rich tools for checking in, viewing one’s stats, managing friends, exploring new venues, creating lists, etc. With this makeover, Foursquare now gives us a more visually-engaging experience and reason to visit their site on our desktops. Google+ Brand Pages Are Finally Here
After four months since its launch, Google+ has finally opened the gates for businesses and brands to create their own profiles on the social networking site. Although, that’s not to say it didn’t come without a fight. Prior to yesterday, Google+ only allowed actual people to create profiles and told businesses they’ll have to wait to create their own. Select businesses like Mashable and Ford were allowed to stay on the site while other profiles (including ours) were shut down and told to wait. But now the time has come for businesses to create their own Pages on Google+. Continue reading →
Twitter Stories: Highlighting Humanity Behind Selected Tweets
Twitter launched their first set of Twitter Stories Monday which will become a monthly portfolio of their best 140-character limit posts they have selected to remind us of the humanity behind Tweets that make the world smaller. In their first collection of stories, we learn about the first Tweet from space, a kidney disease patient who received an organ donation after tweeting sh*t, I need a kidney, and movie critic Roger Ebert who still delivers his keen insights to his followers through Twitter despite having lost his ability to speak. Twitter Quietly Rolls Out New Timeline Update
It seems Twitter is quietly rolling out a much-needed update to its Timeline feature. The new Timeline allows users to click individual tweets to expand conversations, media, and RTs. Alternatively, when hovering over a tweet, an Open link appears and can be clicked to expanding the tweet. Once opened, a Close link appears to close the expanded tweet. I haven’t seen any official word on this from the official Twitter account or their blog, but a few users are reporting it. Continue reading →
Facebook Changes Privacy Settings With New Timeline Feature, Here’s How To Fix It
With all the buzz circulating about Facebook’s new Timeline profile, which starts rolling out today, members are either curious or concerned about features that may raise privacy concerns. This revamped profile essentially converts your profile into a digital scrapbook of your life displaying status updates and wall posts from years past. Luckily, IT website CIO has come up with a list of steps you need to take if you’re worried about calling up past posts, photos or life events. Continue reading →
Facebook Mobile App Revealed and Set To Be Announced At Apple’s iPhone 5 Event
If you’ve been keeping up with TechCrunch’s coverage of Facebook’s secretive Project Spartan, then you’ll be interested to hear that they’ve uncovered another critical piece of the puzzle. A webpage (which is dead now of course) on Facebook’s developer site described a mobile app that developers are encouraged to use while building iOS and Android applications. You can see the page posted in its entirety below. Continue reading →
Google+ App For Android Finally Gets Resharing Feature In Its Latest Update
Google sent out an update yesterday for its Google+ app for Android. One of my criticisms of the Google+ iPhone app was the inability to reshare others’ posts, a functionality similar to retweeting a tweet on Twitter. But that functionality has come in this latest update along with a handful of other fixes.
