Ahh, the movies! While people seem to be going to them less, they are still an experience like no other. But theaters are hurting and need your patronage. One way to get you into the theaters are the previews for movies that look so good you have to see them in the theater. Like most of us, I am not a fan of movie previews though. Even good ones are a part of a huge set that are so lengthy you tend to forget what movie you came to see. TimePlay is one theater chain’s way of getting you to be there for those previews by using fun to get you there early. Continue reading →

App Review: BitDefender for Android
Never before had I been worried about my phone happening upon a virus. I had installed some antivirus apps on my Android phones in the past to test them out, but I was yet to put one on my Galaxy Nexus. But once a few friends with Android devices started coming to me with complaints of their phones acting up and asking for advice, I began to look into some protection for my Galaxy Nexus. I happened upon Lifehacker’s guide to the “Best and Worst AntiVirus Apps for Android” which helped to guide me in the right direction. Continue reading →
App Review: Key Ring for Android
A while back I was having a major issue: Fat Wallet Syndrome. It seemed to be associated with Heavy Front Pocket Syndrome as well. Before you start coming to me with your hands out though, let me assure you it wasn’t a bunch of cash in my wallet nor change in my pockets. The extra bulk was coming from full-size membership cards creating a nest in my back pocket and the miniature versions bogging down my keychain in my front pocket. Quoth the Eric, “Nevermore,” though… I found a solution. Continue reading →
App Review: Google Voice for Android
A long-time favorite Android app of mine has been Google Voice. I jumped into Google Voice while it was still by invitation (be jealous), quite a while before my first smartphone. There are so many uses for Google Voice that I’ve lost count. I’ll go over my favorites that can be performed with the Android app in this article, but feel free to cover others in the comments if I’ve missed any. Also feel free to ask questions and I’ll do my best to answer them. Continue reading →
App Review: Poker By Zynga For iOS and Facebook
Zynga’s Poker is one of the largest free to play online poker games in the world. While I will be focusing on the iPhone and Facebook applications of the game, Zynga has also ported it over to Android, Yahoo, and Google+. With apps and games like Hanging With Friends and Words With Friends, I thought it was time to look at one of their first games. Continue reading →
App Review: Torrent-Fu For Android
Smart phones are a man-on-the-go’s best friend. They bring you the newspaper when you ask and can guide you to a cup of coffee. If you have thoughts while you’re out and about, there are note apps. But if you think of a torrent while you’re away from your computer, you don’t necessarily want to jot it down and start it later; you’d much rather it be ready when you get home! Continue reading →

App Review: Jason Calhoun Apps + Giveaway
I had a chance to enter a contest a few months back, so, per usual, I entered. As has been happening somewhat frequently lately, I won! I had earned a free Android application of my choice by Jason Calhoun, and through a generous Twitter-related offer in the award email, I obtained a second application as well. I zipped over to Jason’s site to finalize my selection. I knew I had to have System Info Widget, as I enjoy knowing the intricate details of all of my technology. The other choice ended up being My Schedule for its obvious potential. Continue reading →
App Review: Winamp for Android
No matter what mobile operating system you use, you’re bound to have your favorite music app. Across all platforms there is the option of Pandora and, of course, each platform’s own native music player. But if you’re an Android user, there’s another music player app you should consider: Winamp. Continue reading →
