Google sent out an update yesterday for its Google+ app for Android. One of my criticisms of the Google+ iPhone app was the inability to reshare others’ posts, a functionality similar to retweeting a tweet on Twitter. But that functionality has come in this latest update along with a handful of other fixes.
Unfortunately, this update was limited to the Android platform and did not come to other platforms such as iOS. But do not fear, iPhone users. Punit Soni, lead product manager for Google+, stated on his Google+ page that this update will soon be hitting Apple’s App Store: “And don’t worry, iOS and web app folks, reshare is coming soon for you too!”
Another criticism I had about the Google+ iPhone app was the inability to create new Circles. But yet again, that criticism is no longer relevant as this update also added the ability to create new Circles.
How to Reshare A Post
Resharing a post in the app is very simple. Just tap a user’s post (like you would to +1 it) and then tap the ellipsis icon (…) in the upper-righthand corner. A dropdown menu will appear with the options to “Share this post”, “Mute”, and “Report abuse”. Simply tap the “Share this post” option, begin adding any comments you might have about the post, and then press Post. Voilà!
Along with Soni’s update, Ben Eidelson, product manager for Google+, also states in the video below that resharing was the number one most requested featured.

Finally, we are beginning to see the Google+ mobile apps becoming more and more like the fully functional Google+ web app. The Google+ team has done a great job updating the app with new features. However, one thing I’d like to see is the ability to create, delete and modify Huddles in the web app. I mean, I’m not asking too much… right?
Let us know what other features you’d like to see come in the next Google+ app update in comments below!
